The Solomon Islands, in the heart of the Pacific, relies on expensive imported fuel for nearly 100% of its electricity. It has some of the highest energy costs in the world and one of the lowest rates of connection in the world, with just 9% of Solomon Islanders connected to the electricity grid.
This is the story of Toata Molea, the owner of Didao Service Station in the capital, Honiara. Toata shares his insights into running a small business under the Solomons’ high energy costs.

I never though I could spend an entire day at a petrol station and enjoy myself. But there we have it. I suppose one of the great things about being a documentary film maker is that you get to really immerse yourself in another persons world for a time, become part of it and then find their story within it.
